FROM STARI GRAD TO SVETA NEDJELJA (recommended)

The easiest way and the one we would recommend is to board traject from Split to Stari Grad. From the Stari Grad to Sv Nedjelja please follow map prepared by us.

FROM STARI GRAD TO SV. NEDJELJA (alternative way)

There is another way from Stari Grad to Sv. Nedjelja. This way is much shorter but part of it is dirt road and is recommended for offroad cars only.

FROM SUCURAJ TO SV. NEDJELJA

The Via Ferrata Hvar starts above the steep wine vineyards of Sveta Nedjelja and ends on the plateau just below the island’s highest peak, the Sveti Nikola (626m).

Via Ferrata Hvar was created out of passion for climbing, hiking, and the natural beauty of Hvar island. Constructed by experienced climber and route creator, Miroslav Stec, he and his Cliffbase team spent countless hours to make an unforgettable experience both pleasant and safe.

Outfitted with steel steps, steel ropes, and certified via ferrata sets -- you can experience a majestic panorama and an adrenaline rush from the idyllic cliffs perched above the Adriatic Sea. Highlights on the route include a heart-pumping walk over the hanging bridge of Sveti Spiridion, which sits 80 meters above the ground and crosses over 30 meter high cliffs.

Currently, there are three Via ferratas connected to the bridge, all from west side. The east side ferratas are still under construction.

The “Via Avalon”, graded A/B starts closer to the Cave of Sveta Nedjelja. The more exposed “Via Mirko” B/C, with an 80 meter long vertical section -- both routes connect to the aforementioned bridge. When departing from the west bridge platform, you will find a donation box (recommended 7 eu per person) as well as the third route, “Via Barbara B”. It includes moderate terrain and equipped with steel cables for sections requiring them.

The hike back is on a simple, marked tourist trail avoiding steep rocks and passes two notable sights: chapel “Gospa od Zdravlja” and “ Cave of Sveta Nedjelja”. The Augustinian monastery dates back to the 16th century!

• Via Ferrata are one way routes to the top
• The bridge of Sveti Spiridion has the “U” turn on the east side
• Avoid entering the ferrata during thunderstorms
• There is an donation-entrance ticket 50 kuna per person
• Using the ferrata system is at your own risk

Via Ferrata Hvar parking in Sveta Nedjelja - gps coordinates 43°08'18.9"N 16°35’10.4”E, please make reservation in advance.

Transfer from Hvar town bus station is available - up to 8 people, charged 700 kuna per one direction, or alternative from St. Grad ferry port, charged 400 kuna.

These additional services are available in case You are not fully equipped or not experienced enough to go ahead:

• Book ferrata set (including helmet) - 100 kuna per person a day,
• Book guided ferrata tour including ferrata sets - 600 kuna per person, possible discount for bigger group.

Currently, there are three indoor options for accommodation. All of which include sheets, blankets, and pillows. All rooms have been built into the rock face -- creating a natural, rustic feeling. Rooms can sleep anywhere from 2-12+ people.

The two options located on the first floor are best suited for couples or smaller groups of 2-4 people. They are equipped with a tier system of beds similar to a bunk style but wider and more spacious.

Upstairs you have the option to rent the entire floor. Excellent for larger groups of people, 4-12+. The amenities include:

Wine lovers are encouraged to taste the local red wine “Plavac Mali”, sold directly from the Cliffbase wine cellar. The cellar itself is an intimate experience. Built over a span of five years, it is located inside an old limestone chasm next to the sea. A marvelous entrance leads you down a few winding stairs and into a beautiful tasting room! You will be hard pressed to find a more exotic location to enjoy a local, organic wine.

The wine itself can only be described as unique. Located above Cliffbase, the wine is grown and matured on the steep, dry slopes of the south facing hillside of Hvar island. Situated just below majestic limestone towers, the vineyards are exposed to direct sunlight and sea reflection, which influences the wine for remarkable taste.

Exclusive to this region, the vineyards are unlike any other in the world. Their location allows for the wine to be produced in such a natural, organic way. There is no herbicides, insecticides, fungicides. Irrigation is not required for production. It truly is a pure, pristine wine.

Mali Plavac, Primitivo (Italy), Zinfandel (California) has the same autonomic grape varietal that is an ancestor of the old Dalmatian type. Plavac Mirko is one of the best to choose from for tasting. It's of a limited production; no more than 1 kg of grapes per plant, no selective yeasts or enzymes - natural fermentation, no filtration, no preservatives or additives, limited sulfate, aged in three Slavonian oak barrels.
